With her impressive debut Blue Skies hitting music stores just in time for the Christmas holiday, Diana carved out a few precious minutes to sit down with eDiets to discuss a wide range of topics, including how a busy person finds the time to eat right and get exercise, her new album, the American Idol phenomenon, and her personal wishes for the new year. "I love every song for various reasons," says Diana, referring to her new recording. "It's based on a girl’s feelings." For a preview of the 12 awesome tracks which include Diana's emotional cover of the '80s megasmash Don't Cry Out Loud -- the song Diana nailed during the American Idol competition -- click here and scroll down. The critics have not been all that kind to Diana, but her many fans continue to crave her power ballad stylings. "It was a lot of hard work. I worked with amazing people like Clive Davis who worked with people like Celine Dionne and Whitney Houston. "A first album is like going to school. I didn't get a lot of say. I did get guidance. I wasn't able to write anything. If I do get a second chance to record, I will try to have more input. It is your career. "I love every song for various reasons. The songs are based on a girl’s emotions. Blue Skies was the last song I recorded. It's a thank you song... a great song." And so how does Diana stay in shape? Well, as far as fitness is concerned she walks the treadmill. "Cardio will burn anything," she tells eDiets. "One thing I find keep on healthy level is that I get up early and run on the treadmill for 30 minutes. "You gotta be picky about what you eat. I am very open to all kinds of food. I recently cut off fast food. I do Chick-Fil-A. If I do go to hamburger joint, I get a burger and no fries and only a half a bun. It’s little things like that -- stuff adds up. "Instead of fries I ask for apple slices." With New Year's Day just around the bend, what does Diana wish for her immediate future? "I'm determined to drink more water even though I live in the land of Coca Cola and sweet tea. I love it but I gotta cut back. Instead of three per day, maybe I'll drink just one. "Oh, and I want to get one of those abs chair thingies!" Diana says she's had a very successful year of balancing school and career. She hopes to end up on a happy note and graduate with her class. But she wants to do that without conflicting with her career." Source: http://www.ediets.com/news/article.cfm/cmi_830060/cid_28/ |
